Inspired in part by this book
And this book that I recently bought for a friend.
I have started my own "Artists Journal". I've only done one page so far but it was really fun! What I like about it is that you can pretty much do whatever you like. You can use famous paintings and glue them in or you can draw your own. You can use that tiny bit of ribbon that's been kicking around your desk for ages because you cannot throw it away or all those magazine clippings that are taking up space. So fun!
I decided to finally use this beautiful velvet covered journal that my mom gave me a long time ago that I just haven't been able to bring myself to use. It has gorgeous pages of handmade paper.
So, at the moment my plan is to not have a plan. :) I'm just going to go page by page and try out different types of art. I really like calligraphy so I'm going to try and incorporate that into my pages as I go along. Maybe I will write down some of my favorite poems or verses to go with pictures that I draw or paint or print out. We will see. That is the beauty of an artists journal, you can make it what you want it to be.

OH Genny!!!!! That's so beautiful! I have that same exact journal too. I started writing my poetry in it a long time ago, but I just might steal your idea....:) In fact, I have a few "special journals" I never use I could do that with. Your so brilliant. And I love my book. :D We should get together and do a page one day. :)
Oooh...I could totally do that with those journals Christopher Robin gave me to. Yes...sweetness. Okay...I'm calming down. Sorry.
Oooh, yes...see you Wednesday Marg! What time? Shouldn't you be in bed, dear? ;) How was the party today?
I like it. :) If you ever want to you can always come use "the studio" too. haha. OH! And, Happy Almost Birthday Daisy!! :D
Your first page is beautiful. It looks like you are off to a great start. Now I want to find a copy of the Artist Journal Pages book, it looks very inspiring!
Anna: Yes! Do it! Let's get together yeah yeah yeah...and do a page together! :)
Becks: Thanks! I just might invade sometime and then you'll be sorry! Muahaha! You gals have the BEST studio ever now.
Adelheide: Thank you so much! Yes, you should check out that book, it is all goodness. Well, not all... There are some pages that are just scribbles. I guess that some people consider it art? But, most of the book is worth looking at. If you click on the picture of the book it will take you to Amazon.com. They have pretty good prices on books. OR, you could just look at Anna's when you see her next time. :) Ha ha!
Thank you all for the kind comments. You're the best. :)

So so lovely Gen! I need to work on my art journal! It's so much fun!
Hey! Did you notice that there is blue and red on the dress from the painting in your journal and the dress on the artful storybook? And we were just looking at the 'Miranda and the tempest' picture and SHE has a blue and red dress! Funny! They're all blue for the main part and then red as a secondary color. hmm... very interesting...
