Loveliness...

This is the dress (above) that I am working on (known as the "shieldmaiden dress").
This is my next project!!
I got a whole bunch of some really cool brown upholstery fabric for the outside of the coat, some beige corduroy with a scroll design for the lining and rabbit fur for the neck and sleeves!!

Once Upon a Time

Inspired in part by this book

And this book that I recently bought for a friend.

I have started my own "Artists Journal". I've only done one page so far but it was really fun! What I like about it is that you can pretty much do whatever you like. You can use famous paintings and glue them in or you can draw your own. You can use that tiny bit of ribbon that's been kicking around your desk for ages because you cannot throw it away or all those magazine clippings that are taking up space. So fun!

I decided to finally use this beautiful velvet covered journal that my mom gave me a long time ago that I just haven't been able to bring myself to use. It has gorgeous pages of handmade paper.

So, at the moment my plan is to not have a plan. :) I'm just going to go page by page and try out different types of art. I really like calligraphy so I'm going to try and incorporate that into my pages as I go along. Maybe I will write down some of my favorite poems or verses to go with pictures that I draw or paint or print out. We will see. That is the beauty of an artists journal, you can make it what you want it to be.

Do you have an Art Journal or want to start one? If you do, leave a comment and tell me the kinds of things you would like to have in it.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

Above Rubies

Hello everyone! I want to share this website with you.
http://www.aboverubies.org/
Above Rubies is a ministry to encourage women in their high calling as wives, mothers, and homemakers. Its purpose is to uphold and strengthen family life and to raise the standard of God's truth in the nation.
The name has been chosen from Proverbs 31:10 AMP,

"A capable, intelligent and virtuous woman, who is he who can find her? She is far more precious than jewels and her value is far Above Rubies or pearls."

We believe this with all our hearts. Each woman and girl is precious to God and He has paid the highest price for her so that she might live...

They also send out an Above Rubies magazine which is absolutely wonderful! And it's free! http://rubies.articledirectoree.com/subscribe-to-magazine.html

We are very passionate about being a God honoring family and being 'capable, intelligent and virtuous women' and strive to be just that each day. There is nothing better than living the life God has planned for you. =]
May God bless your life and everything you do. =]

This is from the movie Babes in Arms. A great film starring the adorable Judy Garland and the absolutely hilarious Mickey Rooney! Watch it!
